On a Wednesday morning this week, a man from the small African populace of Namibia by the @Twitter handle of @Still_Psychic filmed thirty seconds of him (and I think it's him) pulling off a woman's hat on a moving bus.
He and a crowd of other people on the same bus were laughing as the woman, who appeared to be visibly angered at the sight of him doing this and at the sight of everyone else holding her up for ridicule because of it.
We, the people of the Internet, quickly took to the comments to tell this young man that this woman has gained our sympathy, and that he and the group of people who ridiculed her have gained our scorn. He did not take the news lightly at all, and went on to taunt us. Twice.
The first time around, he claimed that we actually laughed at the video before commentating and are downplaying this (non) fact because of "clout seeking."
The second time he did it, he filmed slow-motion footage of a big bobcat catching meat and billed it as "how people are catching feelings under this tweet".
None of this did any favors for him. In fact, all they really did was further prove the extent of the shame he was bringing to himself and to his standing on the Internet. As was put by a quote from the 1967 film #CoolHandLuke: "What we have here is a failure to communicate."
And that is certainly the case for this man. We are all calling upon him to repent and renounce his actions, and for the remorse for his actions to show all the way through. Otherwise, I hope that woman in the video knows a good mental institution for him to be put in.
