We've been trying. I've said the whole Russian meddling thing is like checking all the windows of our electoral house for signs of forced entry while ignoring the folks (ES&S, domestic operatives like Rove) with keys to the front door who are sitting in the kitchen having a beer.
Of course the kind of security "upgrades" Congress and the states are looking at will do effectively NOTHING to button up the system against INSIDERS with access to the programming process. 2/
@MartinTruther You're right, this (targeting outside hackers, ignoring inside riggers) is so Inspector Clouseau-stupid on its face that it is hard to believe it is not by design and that it's rigability that's being protected. Then again, there's a lot of stupidity out there. 3/3
