We all know that the Trump impeachment strategy is going to be the same as the Kavanaugh strategy, right? Just stonewall and gaslight with the aid of a complicit GOP leadership class.
And just like with Kavanaugh, this strategy will likely work, in the sense that they will get the specific outcome they want (Kav nominated, Trump acquitted in Senate). The more important question is, what portion of the general public will consent to being gaslighted?
To the extent that 2018 was a referendum on the Kav process, it would suggest that the short term GOP victory on Kav was a long-term loss with the electorate. If impeachment gaslighting moves the needle even further in the same direction, it's not a good sign for the 2020 GOP.
