Presidents don't have records. Presidents don't run the economy. The economy runs itself. Their attempts to run the economy only makes things worse. The best that can be said about Trump's stewardship is that his bad trade policies haven't hurt us too bad.
Crediting or blaming the president is something dumb people do. But it sucks in smart people too, because when every dumb person believes a thing, it's hard for smart people to stand up and deny what 'everyone knows'.
I mean, it's easy for Trump haters to say Trump is wrong taking credit for the economy -- but then they turn around and claim it's Obama who deserves the credit for our current pleasant economic conditions.
But as the recent yield curve hints, we may be in recession before next November. Then those refusing to give Trump credit for the good economy will turn around and blame him for the bad economy.
But no, President Obama deserved neither credit nor blame. President Trump deserves neither credit nor blame. Future President Bernie will deserve neither credit nor blame.
