This is another example of a @nytimes defensive leak. The NYT's first denies the existence of criminal actions, then denies there is evidence, then when that story is refuted, they confess the crimes happened but spin it like it was a good thing. The FISA report must be good! 
@nytimes As I have said for a long time, the President doesn't need to make allegations against the coup plotters if he is patient. The long slow reveal plays into the Democrats #1 defensive tactic: lying & leaking. Knowing the press will cover for them. An honest NYT's wouldn't help them
But they have all learned, that if they get caught for leaking a lie to the media, the media will just tell us the next lie that they leak to them.
So all Trump has to do is wait & slowly defeat each new alibi 1 by 1. Not with a massive declassification, but 1 piece at a time.

With their past alibi gone, they will leak a new lie & the press will pretend that is now the truth & pretend they airbrushed the old lies out of the story.
When does it end? When the last lie & alibi is "we had to do it because of Trump..."

Then Trump can destroy that alibi & reveal that it wasn't just him. But politicians in many races over many decades, all given the 'patriotic Deep State' treatment to control who runs the US government.
Maybe then it can be revealed that the plotters knew that Trump was actually working for the FBI & other US intelligence agencies AGAINST the Russians. And that the coup plotters targeted him to protect the Russians who were their partners in crime.
