BREAKING: NFL Week 7: The Buffalo Bills proudly flew the Gadsden Flag in their pregame anthem ceremony vs. the Miami Dolphins.

Originally a symbol of the American Revolution, the flag has more recently been adopted by white supremacists, the far right, and the tea party.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ruled that the flag could be viewed as racial harrassment in the workplace, noting that the flag today is “sometimes interpreted to convey racially-tinged messages in some contexts.”

The EEOC cited as an example the “June 2014 shooting in Las Vegas, where white supremacists ‘draped the bodies of two murdered police officers with the Gadsden flag.’”
“On June 8, 2014, Jerad Dwain Miller, 31, and his wife Amanda Woodruff Miller, 22, entered a Las Vegas pizzeria and without any provocation or warning, shot and killed two police officers sitting in a booth eating lunch.” forbes.com/sites/jjmacnab…
“The pair dragged the officers to the floor, took their weapons and ammunition, and draped a [Gadsden] flag over one of the bodies.”
“They placed a swastika-stamped manifesto on top of the flag, and pinned a note on the other officer’s body that read, ‘This is the start of the revolution.’”
1960’s KKK White Supremacists and more recently the Charlottesville White Nationalists have used the same Gadsden flag flown by the Buffalo Bills in New Era Field.

The flag didn’t go unnoticed by those watching the game.
Outside the stadium, Bills fans flew Trump 2020 flags...
Buffalo Bills fans also flew Thin Blue Line (police non-accountability) flags outside New Era Field.

The flag is named after its creator, Revolutionary War general Christopher Gadsden, who was a slaveholder and slave trader and was used by the United States during the chattel slavery era.
I’m told somewhere on the sidelines of New Era Field, in the midst of the Trump banners, Thin Blue Line (police non-accountability) flags, police that look like combat troops, and behind the White Nationalist adopted Gadsden flag, Albert Wilson (@iThinkIsee12) kneeled in protest.
We don’t have any pics of Albert Wilson protesting because there is an effort to shut out any coverage of Eric Reid, Kenny Stills, and Albert Wilson protesting systemic oppression and racial inequality during the National Anthem.

Adding some more examples of far right & hate groups using of the Gadsden “Don’t Tread on Me” Flag which flown at the Buffalo Bills game during the anthem this past Sunday.

The Buffalo Bills choose to uplift a banner that is a symbol to white nationalists while participating in the league wide suppression of Black athletes’ free speech rights.
Flashback: At an owners meeting to address the athlete protests, “Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula wanted to control the narrative by emulating the NRA's use of Charlton Heston as spokesman.” This is how the Players Coalition was born. vice.com/en_us/article/…
Flashback: Speaking of protests, some Buffalo Fans have protested in supports of Kaepernick.
Also Buffalo Fans did some pretty racist things when the Niners played the team back in 2016.

Outside the stadium Buffalo Bills fans bought shirts targeting Kaepernick for $10.
At the time, @DandC did some great work and captured some of the Buffalo Bills fans’ opinions of Colin Kaepernick.

Hey, @dandc, you cover the bills and upstate NY, you interesting in the Gadsden flag story? (scroll all the way up)⬆️
At the post game presser, Kaepernick appreciated the Bills fans hat kneeled with him and commented that everyone should be treated equally. He even addressed class privilege.
Kaepernick also addressed the shirts Bills fans were buying outside the stadium with his picture under a rifle scope. He also addressed the jeers from Bills fans inside the stadium.
UPDATE: The Buffalo Bills Owner/President Kim Pegula held a “Once-In-A-Lifetime” experience to watch the pregame with her, the very pregame in which the Bills flew the Gadsden Flag mid-field.
