In the first story, I wrote about how teachers said a live rat was seen eating the head of the dead rat. And either there are two cannabalistic rats at the school, or one of these newly shared photos depicts the aftermath of that.
Journalists: We FOIA the dead rat photos so you don't have to!
But on a separate note: These records were initially withheld, NPS said, because they were non-responsive — not for any other reason. And I think it's worth pointing out that providing them in full would have given the public a more complete picture of how they responded.
So I'll leave you w/ what @opengovva told me this week re: another issue, but which I think applies here, too: Exercising discretion to redact, while allowed, "doesn’t necessarily serve the government’s interests if it creates more questions and causes suspicion or skepticism."
