I refuse to use the word "conservative" when describing Republicans because they are (1) fiscally irresponsible (low taxes and high spending) (2) believe in a big government to enforce their White Christian state newsweek.com/ohio-student-r…
Republicans complain about "identity politics" & "political correctness", but while Democrats try to give disadvantaged & oppressed people dignity & agency through social change, Republicans enact massive government backed measures to facilitate continued prejudice & hatred.
Republicans are "triggered" by When Democrats protest hate-speech on campus Republicans work to fire professors, defund departments, use state legislature to enact mass government-backed attacks on academic freedom. Small social measures, met with massive government intervention.

Turkey/Kurdish War in Short:
1) Trump tells Turkey's Erdogan its cool to attack Kurds in northern Syria
2) Turkey kills/displaces Kurds
3) Kurds reluctantly cut deal with Russia/Syria to help them
4) US military caught in middle evacuates (blowing up its own bases)
5) Trump then signs agreement with Erdogan solidifying Turkey's gain of Kurdish lands and condoning ethnic cleansing of Kurds. But, no more fighting!
6) Within hours Turkey continues offensive, mocking Trump's letters and agreements.
Kurds got killed/displaced from their homes. This is an unmitigated disaster for their dreams of autonomy, peace, prosperity.

Turkey got the buffer into Syria they always wanted with no repercussions, even praise, for "cleansing" Kurdish lands. Unmitigated victory for Turkey.

It literally cost US nothing to protect the Kurds in Syria: we just needed to tell Turkey don't attack them. The cost of not protecting them is massive: who will trust US if we betray our staunchest allies? Who will support US if we partner with despots in their ethnic cleansing?
We are literally letting ISIS go for nothing! Trump personally looks weak, confused, and (while his corruption & authoritarianism was totally cool) he galvanized Republicans to sort-of criticize him. Which all begs question: what personal favor is Trump getting to sell US out?!?
Trump Regime does not even have the support of their sycophantic senators on this monstrosity. Congress must act before the Kurdish positions are overrun, before they slaughtered & ISIS troops are released into Syria. Stop talking about how disappointed you are and do something.

@realDonaldTrump Saudi Arabia is waging a terrible war in Yemen, which we are supplying despite a clear rebuke by Congress, and Yemeni forces attacked them. If they want to stop attacks on themselves, they should try ending their war in Yemen, not dragging US into an insane war against Iran.
Yemen forces have taken responsibility for the attack on Saudi Arabia and Iran has denied responsibly: both of these are more reliable sources than either President Trump or Prince bin Salman, who are desperate for an excuse to drag US into war against Iran.
Saudi Arabia is not an ally in any sense of the word and it is INSANE that US President would defer to them on what to do in a crisis or go to war (a holy war for radical Sunnis, that has nothing to do with US) on their command.

If you share Elizabeth Warren's paranoia about big companies, why should you be eager to give the largest employer, landowner, and investor in the country - with the worst accounting and least accountability - more control over your life?
Lefties constantly try to hide their statism by stealing the language of capitalism, most notoriously by referring to taxes as "investments," but then they pretend Big Government is somehow above all the sinful factors that make Big Business irredeemably corrupt in their eyes.
Most left-wing politicians scramble to insist they love and respect small businesses even as they rail against the corruption and greed of big ones. But if size leads to corruption, then why isn't the biggest business of them all, the U.S. government, also the most corrupt?

The MMIWG was always a sham.

We knew upfront that most murdered and missing Indigenous people were men, but there was no will to investigate this, unless the focus was only on women.

2. There are lot of incidental problems with the piece: I don't think @CoreyRobin or @NancyMacLean5 would self-identify as liberals, as against radicals or leftists, he understates power of Birch Society in 1960s, & misunderstands Buckley's feud with Birchers.
3. This Sam Rosenfeld thread goes into some of the problems with the Birch stuff. Briefly, Buckley & National Review had strong overlap with JBS & didn't turn against them until 1965 (i.e. after Birchers helped conservative takeover of GOP).

The left fears that unless blacks continue to believe #Republicans are #racists , they will not overwhelmingly vote Democrat, and if they don't, #Democrats will not regain the White House for the foreseeable future.
The same holds true for depicting Republicans and conservatives as women haters. There is no better way to persuade college-indoctrinated women to vote Democrat.
And the same holds true for Latinos -- Republicans must be continuously labeled "white supremacists" and "xenophobes" or they, too, may not reliably vote Democrat.
