There IS visible dissent in the conservative camp. But don’t be fooled by claims that CPC is gaining a conscience.

Here is an article stating the obvious. Carpay is pushing for social reforms. To advance the Christian far right agenda.

Pushback from libertarians is not due to moral or ethical concerns. It’s because the far right knows from the recent federal election that far right Christian policies leave a bad taste in the mouth of Canadians. They will not support it. Not in enough numbers to win a majority.
They know that a conservative will never get elected again in Canada if Bill 207 had been passed and implemented.

It wasn’t the appeal to ethical and moral injustices inherent in Bill 207 that killed it during the vote. It was purely self preservation.
Scheer’s days are numbered and the election of a “moderate” libertarian leader, focussing on economics will ensue.

Floating potential candidates like Harper, McKay confirms an effort to hide social conservative policy objectives temporarily. But only until CPC wins a majority.
Derek Fildebrand clearly makes the argument that socially conservative policy objectives are in align with libertarian ideals, so libertarians have no excuse to refuse to support the policies being tabled that would remove the right to medical treatment.

But they did. Enough to defeat the bill.

Political theatre, don’t be fooled.

Done to convince the masses that libertarian purists would never compromise human rights. BS. Derek Fildebrant clearly removed that argument in his article.
Dominionist Christians and Consequentialist Libertarians share a lot of overlap in ideological beliefs and values.

Every Canadian with an interest in politics was watching that vote.

It was meant to reassure the electorate.
We’ve been down this road before. Stockwell Day, Canadian Reform Alliance (CRAP) leader, was razed by the Canadian MSM and Canadians for his creationist beliefs and values in early 2000’s. Harper replaced him in 2003. Day’s public religious views had become troublesome.
Scheer just committed the same hidden agenda reveal during the federal election.

CPC expected to win the election. They expected a majority. How could they not? NDP & GPC assisting domestically, multiple foreign interference campaigns using sophisticated oppo research.
The risk was minimal. I was convinced we had lost. But it delivered a minority government instead. Canadians prevailed but CPC managed to claim the popular vote. Demonstrating the effectiveness of the proliferation of disinformation & propaganda.
So it was deemed safe to introduce socially conservative policies, but only as a backbencher option. We were promised the CPC leader would respect established laws.

But Scheer did enough campaigning on SoCon issues that his religious views were questioned.
His past and his present revealed a devout far right Catholic. A Dominionist Christian.

It’s clear as day and Day what Scheer is all about. It may seem like Scheer is being eviscerated by CPC. He’s not. He’s been exposed. Every Canadian knows what Scheer represents.
CPC decision makers now know they need to keep the theocratic undertones on the back burner to get elected to a majority.

Kenney is a willing participant in this theatre. For crying out loud, he campaigned in Ontario for Scheer. They have the same agenda.
So UCP is helping the CPC create the mythical narrative that libertarians have ethics and will bar the SoCons from introducing SoCon policies.

They won’t. It’s a lie.

Both libertarians and Dominionist Christians support free market, limited government and low taxes.
That means their fiscal policies are the same. Removing public funding and installing private options. For the cash grab & transfer of wealth back to the wealthy, consequentialist libertarians are willing to put up with a theocracy, because they’d be exempt from the consequences.
Consequentialists measure ethics in terms of “what’s in it for me” terms.

If a libertarian gains increased wealth, at the expense of others, and the only trade off is a few restrictions others will be required to abide by, why would he/she stand in the way of regression?
That’s how they think. Only if their own needs. The needs of others are irrelevant. Think of Kevin O’Leary. His only concern is his wealth and personal power, the rest of us aren’t a factor he deigns to consider. That’s consequentialism.

It also means this is the cons weak spot. And they know it.

So don’t get too confident that we defeated Bill 207. We didn’t. Cons sacrificed the Bill in a theatrical production meant to convince the electorate that libertarians will protect their rights.

They won’t.
They will replace Scheer. With a consequentialist Libertarian. He’ll promise to refuse to touch human rights legislation.

But remember, consequentialists have no problem lying, if it helps them achieve their goals.
The goal is to get CPC elected as a federal majority. Not protect human rights.

Whatever it takes to get elected is a possibility.

It will serve each Canadian voter well to keep that fact at the forefront of every decision they make when voting.
