It wasn’t the appeal to ethical and moral injustices inherent in Bill 207 that killed it during the vote. It was purely self preservation.
Floating potential candidates like Harper, McKay confirms an effort to hide social conservative policy objectives temporarily. But only until CPC wins a majority.

Political theatre, don’t be fooled.
Done to convince the masses that libertarian purists would never compromise human rights. BS. Derek Fildebrant clearly removed that argument in his article.
Every Canadian with an interest in politics was watching that vote.
It was meant to reassure the electorate.
CPC expected to win the election. They expected a majority. How could they not? NDP & GPC assisting domestically, multiple foreign interference campaigns using sophisticated oppo research.
But Scheer did enough campaigning on SoCon issues that his religious views were questioned.
It’s clear as day and Day what Scheer is all about. It may seem like Scheer is being eviscerated by CPC. He’s not. He’s been exposed. Every Canadian knows what Scheer represents.
Kenney is a willing participant in this theatre. For crying out loud, he campaigned in Ontario for Scheer. They have the same agenda.
They won’t. It’s a lie.
Both libertarians and Dominionist Christians support free market, limited government and low taxes.
If a libertarian gains increased wealth, at the expense of others, and the only trade off is a few restrictions others will be required to abide by, why would he/she stand in the way of regression?

So don’t get too confident that we defeated Bill 207. We didn’t. Cons sacrificed the Bill in a theatrical production meant to convince the electorate that libertarians will protect their rights.
They won’t.
But remember, consequentialists have no problem lying, if it helps them achieve their goals.
Whatever it takes to get elected is a possibility.
It will serve each Canadian voter well to keep that fact at the forefront of every decision they make when voting.
