#UCPAGM2019 hate everything democracy stands for. They see equality as their enemy which makes women their target (and I think their #1 target since they are 50% of population), people of colour, LGBTQ+,
, Atheists - all targets. Autocracy and fear serve white male interests alone.
The vast majority of people affected by job losses are women. This fact makes cuts to front line workers like nurses and teachers cathartic to this sordid collection of weak men. It serves several purposes...
1. Women are pushed into the white patriarch’s belief women are second class. 2. These jobs are union and unions have made progress improving women’s pay. The pay gap between genders in public sector is far narrower than private due to collective bargaining. Patriarchs hate this
Cutting women’s jobs increases their economic dependence on men, increases violence against women as families struggle under the pressure. This further enhances patriarchy as it disempowers women.
As for women, POC, LGBTQ+ who have hitched their horses to UCP and other RW parties like them, there’s good reason for it.
Marginalized people have often used the strategy of appeasement to dominant power to avoid punishment and to cling to what little power the dominant power will grant them above their peers’ lot. Such hangers-on will defend and serve the patriarchy rather than accept alternative.
Hangers-on must serve at the pleasure of patriarchy or face punishment.
RW parties have at their core a backlash against progress that includes benefits for others. Privilege requires a rigged system to exist. It cannot stand competition
Kenney has also removed the $25/day child care. This is an attack on women and diminishes women’s workforce participation. The UCP INTEND to diminish women, to push them back.
And media fails to address this core of Right Wing parties in Canada, their entire modus operandi to reassert white male privilege, to fight against equality that by its nature opposes privilege.
Who predominantly controls media? White males who are advantaged by status quo. The media are therefore sympathetic to the white male backlash against equality. They turn a blind eye. To them, it isn’t a problem so they refuse to address it.
So why are the RW encouraging distrust of media? It’s because they cannot control media messaging entirely. It’s not media they have a problem with. It’s media that can exercise its 4th estate responsibilities and report facts & expose the truth about power.
The RW LOVE propaganda that they dress up as media like Fox in the US, Rebel, Postmedia. They LOVE when any media repeats their think tank ‘studies’ without question.
Patriarchs buy up media to monopolize the message for the goal to reassert their patriarchal privilege - to shroud the citizens from the truth. Who owns Twitter, Google, Facebook?
