1-will require authors to make data accessible in public repositories, &
2-will support additional types of in-publication supplements, esp encouraging Source Data files for each figure and supplement. 2/

.@NatureGeosci asking for Source Data files underlying each figure goes beyond basic repository deposition requirements of the FAIR Data Project. "With this initiative, we are hoping to end the era of having to scrape data points from published figures by hand or algorithm." 3/

Good progress toward access, transparency, & reproducibility. Some publicly accessible repositories report increased data publication demand without increases in personnel/funding to manage the need. While increasing demand is a "good" problem, it will also have to be solved. 4/
