It's the last Sunday evening before the general election. Let me try to dispense some ancient Greek wisdom to the warring Lab and LD parties (prompted by the exchanges between @joswinson and @AngelaRayner on the latest debate). 1/6
Listening to them made me think back to Aesop, and the fable of the North Wind and the Sun. Read it here:

Lab and LD are seeking to ensure that wavering voters vote for them, so that they can win the marginal seats they need. They are being very North Wind about it. A bit more Sun would help. 3/6
The current approach is to bludgeon potential voters of the other party. Corbyn is cast as a marxist anti-semite. Swinson as the queen of austerity. Minds are, how to put this, not being changed. 4/6
An alternative approach would point to the mutual benefits of cooperation. It would involve pledges of support in some constituencies in return for pledges of support in others, and an agreed plan towards a PV early in the next Parliament. 5/6
You never know, it might lead to both parties winning the seats they need to win the big prize - denying Johnson a 5-year mandate. 6/6
