- Individuals & collectives > (Traditional) Institutions. No more artificial gate keepers.
- Internet is the great equalizer
- Markets eat the world
What does that look like in practice?
See below:
People are searching for community & belonging more than ever, and “sovereign individual” doesn’t include that.
Partially inspired by this piece & tweet:

The internet is the great equalizer
On the internet, anyone globally can get a great education & build a portfolio
The fact that anyone can build a portfolio means we’ll rely less on artificial gate-keepers of quality (e.g academia & media)
This means cos will be able to hire ppl in developing countries at a lower cost
This will raise growth & tax revenue in developing countries, but decrease it in developed
Printing money means there'll be an increased demand for uninflatable $
Increased tax means there will be an increased demand for charter cities
In other words, it won’t be JFK’s speech “ask what you can do for your country” but instead countries & gov’ts will compete over what they can do for you
What does this mean? Let’s go category by category
Trends here are:
- crushing debt
- vanishing information asymmetry
- global access
Opportunities:
- Parallel education institutions outside K-12 (e.g home school)
- Remote (e.g. Lambda)
- Align incentives (ISAs)
- Companies that help people move and take advantage of geo arbitrage, like placement)
- Press button. Do digital work. Earn Money (@balajis vision)
-Global & digital labor marketplaces:
- Anything that enables remote work (VR, e-sports)
Journalism: Everyone’s a journalist now. The person who gains audience trust directly, wins. NYT et al doesn’t decide. The crowd does.
Education: People shouldn’t pay $250K for a piece of paper. Instead, digital portfolios & p2p credentials.
- Protect against gov't power (e.g BTC for inflation, encrypted communication platforms for censorship, pseudonymous accounts for personal attacks)
- Protect against corporate power (e.g sovereignty preserving computing like orbit, blockstack, casa, etc)
- Rating systems for everything
- marketplaces for everything
- security / protection
Internet destroyed communities. It will also rebuild them ( )
Since work will be remote and people will increasingly be entrepreneurs, there will be increased demand for IRL networks.
