Oh no, newsrooms/journalists. As I’ve shared in past, please avoid directly linking and promoting Facebook’s announcements by blog post. Recommend instead reporting on it or linking to other coverage (even your competitors) to provide proper context. Slipped backward on this one.
Happy to hear a counter to this. I always point it out but have yet to had anyone offer an argument otherwise. Facebook shouldn’t be given the reach and velocity of a journalist’s social media post to simply drive people to read Facebook’s announcement in its own words.
It’s sort of the same idea as taking an email with a Facebook press release and forwarding it to your entire network. No one would ever do that.
I think responsible news media need to be more open to linking to each other’s reporting (@mariaressa taught me this) to offset disinformation networks. So in order, 1) report it yourself, 2) link to competition’s report 3) tweet relevant details with context. My 2 cents. Thx.
Again, not even suggesting any Facebook reporter would have time to analyze or cover it yet. Just suggesting linking to competition rather than Facebook. Here is @CNET @QWongSJ coverage for example. cnet.com/news/facebook-…
@CNET @QWongSJ Hey press, see 👆🏽, as I’ve shared in past, please avoid directly linking/promoting Facebook’s announcements by blog post. Recommend instead reporting on it or linking to other coverage (even your competitors) to provide proper context. This is how audiences get better informed.

@CNET @QWongSJ If you need a report, here are a few good ones:
CNET: cnet.com/news/facebook-…
NYT: nytimes.com/2019/12/20/bus…
Axios: axios.com/facebook-fake-…
