While we wait for the vote in the US House of Representatives on Articles of Impeachment against Donald J. Trump, I think it is worth taking some time to remember all the hard work that got us to this historic moment. A personal journey of 2019.... #ImpeachmentDay

Accountability began with the #BlueWave2018 in November 2018, where people all over the country said ENOUGH! Voters turned out in massive numbers to give a majority to the @HouseDemocrats. This was no fluke, but a MASSIVE effort by citizens all over America.

Then the real crazy started, with new offenses every day and a long gov't shutdown driven by Trump's racism and spite. It is here where Trump made his first major attempt to take away the power of the purse away from Congress with his #FakeNationalEmergency.

This blatant violation of the Separation of Powers was met with nationwide protests, and a HUGE THANK YOU to @RepPressley for recognizing this violation of the US Constitution and standing with us on a cold and snowy President's day in Cambridge to protest. @cast_mass

Then began the long saga of the #MuellerReportCoverUp, where AG Barr lied to the American people and buried large portions of the #MuellerReport. But we said NOT ACCEPTABLE! and worked tirelessly to get the true findings out to the public.

We made phone calls, wrote letters, and pushed our Representatives to hold Trump accountable for his #ObstructionOfJustice and for aiding the #RussianElectionInterference in the 2016 US Presidential election. And our Representatives responded and fought. @RepKClark

We worked to educate the public, and make clear the MASSIVE SCALE of the coordinated Russian attack on the US election process. Thank you @cast_mass for organizing public readings of the #MuellerReport.

And we called our MoCs, continued public education, and protested some more...

And we gained momentum, with more MoCs coming out in favor of opening an #ImpeachmentInquiry. Mini-protests popped up all over the country. Public opinion moved. And Trump kept committing crimes and defying Congressional investigations.

And then the #TrumpUkraineExtortion story broke. After winning the 2016 election with the help of #RussianElectionInterference, Trump proceeded to use the vast powers vested in the office of the President to extort a foreign power to interfere in the 2020 election to help him.

It is important to pause and note that all the hard work done by citizens had already persuaded half of the @HouseDemocrats to support an #ImpeachmentInquiry. Without all this hard work, it is unlikely that @SpeakerPelosi would have had the support needed to open an Inquiry.

The #ImpeachmentInquiry faced unprecedented TOTAL OBSTRUCTION from the Trump Administration, yet some brave and patriotic citizens stepped forward to testify before Congress. Thank you to these dedicated officials who risked all to defend the US Constitution.

The evidence for High Crimes and Misdemeanors is abundantly clear. Donald J. Trump withheld US taxpayer money and an official act, a White House visit, in an effort to extort Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 US Presidential election. This alone is grounds to #ImpeachAndRemove

But #PutinsPuppet also extorted Ukraine to absolve Russia for their attack on the 2016 US election, spreading false Russian propaganda . Russia declared war on the US with an unprecedented attack on our election and Trump betrayed his Oath of Office. #Treason

The facts are clear. Trump has admitted to his extortion scheme and continues to work towards destroying our system of free and fair elections. He is #NotAboveTheLaw and his actions DEMAND we #ImpeachAndRemove him to protect America from this domestic enemy of Democracy.

Last night, people gathered across America to DEMAND that the US House of Representatives #ImpeachTrump. In #Boston, we showed up in the cold and rain to do our part.

And I ended the night reading the entire text of both Articles of Impeachment.
