I love working with volunteers, and I love the Apple II community, and I love the projects I've been involved with related to the Apple II. There is a project I've been unable to find any volunteers for in over a year, and I'm super confounded by it. Let me ask it again.
There are over 500 items in the WOZ A DAY collection at the archive. These are meticulously verified, imaged, and intact versions of commercial Apple II software throughout the 1980s and before/beyond. They're often (often!) the first time these versions have ever been available.
Here's the thing. 4AM, the project coordinator, imager and verifier, doesn't have the time to write anything other than a perfunctory entry about what exactly the program is. So it'll usually give a very short description, often based on the disk label. archive.org/details/wozada…
I really think these things need lots of context and in fact, I did an example of the level of description I think we could have on these, using @internetarchive resources of which there are MANY, due to years of people uploading documentation. My example: archive.org/details/wozada…
Like I said, I've been trying for over a year to find a person or persons who would love to contribute to this project by doing those entries and descriptions. For people who don't program, or don't want to get wrapped up in organization politics, who just want to happily browse.
Maybe you didn't know until this second this was something I was looking for - maybe I wasn't explicit or clear. I hope the value of this, the lasting value, is something that's obvious to you AND you want to do this. If so, DM me. Let's talk. You must be out there, right?
Note: I'm not looking for free labor here; this is a project that just needs to be done, and I'd do it myself but the time for that will be notably in the future. Even someone coming to me going "I can definitely do this" with an example, and then I see about fundraising is fine.
Update: A few folks came forward, more are welcome. It's over 500 and @a2_4am really is doing about an average of one a day.
