The @GOP is going to roll on the President.
Pence/Graham will be the last minute 2020 ticket, and, if they win, the chance of any legislation making it will be 100% up to McConnell, assuming he gets reelected.
1. The GOP never wanted the President, they wanted Pence.
2. Setting both the Executive and Legislative branches firmly under Republican control means the GOP can focus on taking the Judicial branch during midterms
4. Four years of Pence/Graham in a worst case scenario for the GOP sets them up nicely to get behind Ryan when he decided to run again in 2024 or 2028.
6. Graham's military background dovetails nicely to address the elephant in the room--pun intended--of the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
8. The scapegoat setup is almost too good for the GOP not to take advantage of it.
