1. This idea that some #GOP have that the DT’s risky behavior is worth the risk because of the potential gains needs some tempering. In fact, the idea that DT would bring some flair for fortune-building from his business acumen was always dangerous.
2. For starters, there are few similarities between running a country and running a business and even fewer similarities between ‘business deals’ and global relations, foreign trade and the balance of power. And the latter issues, our POTUS barely comprehends.
4. But, let’s back it up a little. They sold you on the idea that this ‘real-estate mogul’ would bring the hard-charging, high-stakes mentality we need from a leader. Except for a few things. The self-proclaimed Bankruptcy King can’t dump America’s debt.
5. He claims to always gamble with other people’s money. He’s definitely doing that. Not just our money - our livelihoods, our future, our children, our safety, our lives, our respect as a nation. Our savings, healthcare, retirement, education, rights, freedom and democracy.
6. And, it’s not just us. We are the global superpower. Other countries depend on us. These relationships and institutions were of our creation to ensure equilibrium, peace and an order of alliance. We had the vision. We built this. We were supposed to be the good guys, right?
7. Now the #GOP nervously wrings their hands while he goes on his bully tour, threatening to pull the rug out from under our allies if they don’t pony up their protection money all while he makes his way to Putin - the only one who is actually winning in this dumpster fire.
8. Wake up, #GOP. This gamble ends in disaster for all of us. There will be no bankruptcy. There will be no reinventing yourself with a gameshow deal. The damage is real and long-lasting. And, we the people, are disgusted.
