Today, on the occasion of his 47th birthday, India Wants to Know more about Rahul Dravid.

We're all big fans of his on Team#9 Productions and here are some fun stories about the legend.
Did you know that @sachin_rt and Dravid used to talk to each other in Marathi? Dravid's ancestors were temple priests who moved to the North of Karnataka. Since they were from the south, they got the surname Dravid.
All of Rahul Dravid’s boundaries in T20 internationals were sixes. All of them were off the English cricketer Samit Patel @samitpatel21. Interestingly Dravid’s son is also called Samit.
Here’s @bhogleharsha rejoicing in the commentary box and regaling us the way only he can when Dravid hit three consecutive T20 sixers
In 1991, Dravid batted the whole day with Arjun Raja at Eden Gardens in a Ranji trophy game. Arjun Raja made 267, which was the highest score by a Karnataka player at that time.

Dravid batted the whole day on another occasion, once again at Eden Gardens for an unforgettable 376 run partnership with @VVSLaxman281 - Laxman's 281 was the highest score by an Indian player in test cricket at that time.
@VVSLaxman281 Did you know that Dravid played cricket for another national team? He once played a game against Pakistan for Scotland in 2003 but was unfortunately out for 0.

@VVSLaxman281 Did you know that Dravid was the first Indian player to score a hundred runs in a pink ball game? He scored it at Abu Dhabi while playing for MCC against county champions Nottinghamshire back in 2011.

What is this pink ball cricket, you may ask? Fret not, here's a brief history of pink ball cricket from @ESPNcricinfo

@ESPNcricinfo The only recorded time that Dravid lost his cool was when India was out for 100 while chasing 313 against Mumbai in a test match in 2006.

He had apparently thrown a chair at that time.

His wife, Dr. Vijeta Pendharkar mentions this in her tribute article after he retired.
Since what we want to say about Dravid far exceeds how much can fit into each tweet, here's Dr. Vijeta Pendharkar's article about Dravid - "My husband, the perfectionist".

Rahul Dravid refused an honorary doctorate when it was offered to him, after seeing how hard his mother worked to get hers at the age of 55.
Dravid was once pranked on MTV Bakra by Cyrus Broacha @BoredBroacha.

Sayali Bhagat interrupted his lunch by posing as a journalist who wanted to interview him. Watch what happens next -
@BoredBroacha *Spoiler* alert:

Dravid refused her proposal for marriage vehemently and began lecturing Sayali Bhagat on how she should focus on her studies instead.
@BoredBroacha New Delhi based jam band @RevisitProject released a song, "Sir Dravid" last year.

@BoredBroacha @RevisitProject Nima Namchu and Nitin Berry were working with the ad agency Leo Burnett for a particular campaign.

Their earlier work for the campaign was to brand Azharuddin as the Assassin and Anil Kumble as the Viper.

Neither name stuck, but you know what did?
@BoredBroacha @RevisitProject Wellofcourse, "The Wall".
@BoredBroacha @RevisitProject Time for us to plug our show in a not so subtle manner -
We have stories about Rahul Dravid in our two cricket episodes. Please watch, share, like, love and raise your cricket bats

@BoredBroacha @RevisitProject We mentioned this in our episode and since it is such a cute story, it bears repeating often.

When he began his career Dravid had the jersey number 5 which he then changed to 19 because Vijeta's birthday is on the 19th.
@BoredBroacha @RevisitProject Some clever person did this, please help us give them credit?
@BoredBroacha @RevisitProject Dravid didn't just dazzle in the cricketing arena, he was a strong hockey player at school and played with future India players Sandeep Somesh and Anil Aldrin. Here he is playing with one of India's GOATS Dhanraj Pillay.
