Recent @IPCC_CH reports had assessed the state of scientific knowledge related to fire and climate change.
For instance, the Australasia WGII #AR5 report (2014) had very clear conclusions on vulnerability to intense bushfire and observed and projected increase in fire weather for southern Australia.
Full chapter 25 available here : ipcc.ch/report/ar5/wg2/
There was a dedicated box on climate change and fire, and it was also mentioned in a Frequently Asked Question on key risks from climate change to Australia
The chapter on impacts and risks (chapter 3) of @IPCC_CH #SR15 (2018) highlighted South Australia amongst particularly vulnerable regions where warmer and drier conditions facilitate fire.
Full report : ipcc.ch/report/sr15/
Globally, fire risk and response options (fire management) were amongst highlights of the @IPCC_CH Special Report on Climate Change and Land #SRCCL (2019).
Full report : ipcc.ch/report/srccl
It also concluded that accumulated carbon in vegetation and soils is at risk from future loss triggered by disturbances such as fire or future poor management.
#SRCCL concludes that climate change is playing an increasing role in determining wildfire regimes, along-side human activity.
And there is a dedicated cross-chapter box on Fire and climate change : trends and drivers, greenhouse gas emissions, links with land degradation,
and fire under future climate change.
There are also assessments of grazing and fire management in drylands (chapter 3), of fire and land degradation processes (chapter 4), of feasibility, potential, benefits of fire management (chapter 6), and fire damage risk (chapter 7).
New terminologies are emerging in the scientific literature to describe and categorize extraordinary wildfire events, occurring at an increasing frequency, from a disaster risk reduction perspective, considering social and ecological dimensions

More to come in the @IPCC_CH #AR6 reports under preparation for 2021-2022 on the latest state of knowledge related to changes in hazards, risks as well as response options.
