My learned colleague @leemakiyama has a measured take on the UK Huawei decision which should, but probably won't, counter some of the more hysterical opinion on the subject.
@leemakiyama I have always had difficulty with the view of some Brexiteers that the main reason to leave the EU was to be able to follow the US more closely, particularly under this President. We have to find our own path, and it seems to me that this is what the PM has done in this case.
@leemakiyama Those who think the UK disagreeing with the US over Huawei means the end of the special relationship demonstrate both little faith in it and little understanding of history. And I don't see US voters being too impressed if the President starts attacking the UK.
