@OxfordDiplomat @the_mcquade Completely disingenuous. "Palestine" - outside of the wider British-ruled mandate from 1920-48 - had no meaning before the 1993 Oslo Accords which created the Palestinian Authority whose remit has been expanding not diminishing.
@OxfordDiplomat @the_mcquade Map C does not show "Palestine" but parts of Egypt and Jordan annexed after the Arab-Israeli War of 1948, lost after the Arab-Israeli War of 1967 and voluntarily surrendered when Egypt and Jordan recognised Israel and ended the state of war in 1979 and 1993 respectively.
@OxfordDiplomat @the_mcquade You neglect to show this map which was drawn up by the UN in 1947 which the Jews of Palestine accepted, albeit reluctantly, but which the Arabs rejected: Image
@OxfordDiplomat @the_mcquade The Palestinians have lived with the consequences of the rejection ever since. Your maps stop conveniently at 2000 omitting the offer of full Palestinian statehood by Ehud Barak at the 2000 Camp David summit which was rejected by Yasser Arafat
@OxfordDiplomat @the_mcquade as well as the withdrawal of all Israeli forces and the forcible removal of all Israeli settlements and their occupants by the IDF from the Gaza Strip in 2005 and its handover to the Palestinian Authority.
@OxfordDiplomat @the_mcquade The response has been the use and control of the Gaza Strip by Hamas, a terrorist organisation dedicated not only to the destruction of Israel but also to the genocide of all Jews, to wage continuous and indiscriminate attacks on the civilian population of Israel.
