Social Tip:

It's okay to roast friends when yall are around the squad.

But roasting squad members in front of outsiders is a bitch move.

You'll lose respect among the people who matter the most.

Remember this
There are tiers in the social world.

And low awareness of the tiers is what sets you up to lose friends.

You don't know what you don't know.

But let me explain why the tiers are important...
There are friends & there are acquaintances.

Friends are people who you are normally informal with.

Acquaintances are people who you are normally formal with.

You with me so far?

'Yessir.'
When you're informal with someone, you can have fun with them.

You can joke with them.

And at times, you can joke about them.

All fun & games with friends.
Roasting is when you tease a certain aspect of someone.

It generates laughs & builds a stronger bond among the friend circle.

All harmless.
'So what's the problem?'

The problem is when you begin roasting too much out of the friend circle.

Also known as clowning towards outsiders.

That's a bitch move
'Hm...if I can roast my friends when I'm with my friends. Why is it socially unintelligent to roast in front of acquaintances?'

Because the rapport isn't there.
Roasting your squad in front of outsiders is all in poor taste.

'So why do people do it?'

People do it typically for 2 reasons.

-Not aware.
-Snake move.
-Not aware.

This group doesn't know any better.

They have low social intelligence & apply the same behaviors all around.

They don't see friends or acquaintances.

They just see people.

This group is a dummy, but not malicious.
-Snake Move

This group gets extra 'funny' around outsiders.

Clowning, undermining & putting others down.

You normally worry about introducing new people to this person.

Because they give off a bad vibe.

They can be malicious
The end effects for both groups are the same though.

You broke a code that should be announced.

In the social world, there are certain codes that we just know because we have experienced life.
You failing to realize this will cause you to lose respect among your squad.

And respect is a currency in the social world. Just like money.

'Forreal??'

Ya.
Gotta know that there is a time & place for antics.

Roasting is all fun with the homies.

But with outsiders (people that you don't have a strong rapport with) its in poor taste.

Gotta build up your homies.

Not ruin their perception among others
You'll be surprised how many people are unaware of this.

If they are unaware, you should bring it up.

Bring conscious attention to a subconscious act.

Many will be a little embarrassed when you bring it up because they legit were unaawre
And if they don't change their ways, then you need to be wary of them.

If they try putting you down in front of others, WHILE you are there.

Imagine what they do behind your back.

Snake status
Time and place for everything.

The social world is nuanced & not everything is taught.

In the social world, intuition beats logic.

So go with the vibrations that you feel.
People make mistakes.

But the real ones learn & adapt.

If you keep repeating the same mistakes, you'll lose respect among the people who matter.
Acquaintances are surface-level bonds.

Highly valuable in the social world.

But not worth losing friends over.

Those are the deep level bonds.
Be socially intelligent.

Don't break the unwritten codes.

If you don't see the codes, then it's time you start becoming more aware & listening to the intuition from with.
