"Bots today have more believable online profiles, more advanced conversational skills and appear to be legitimate users embedded in human networks." - Washington Post

Can someone point me to some research that proves bots have more advanced conversational skills.
To clarify my question: I'm looking for some specific research that proves the statement that bots "appear to be legitimate users embedded in human networks" and are having advanced conversations with people. I'm interpreting it literally because that's how WaPo presented it.
Again I will clarify, I didn’t ask if it’s possible, or what already exists that might be comparable. I’m asking for proven examples that WaPo’s statement is accurate. Seems people are having trouble telling the difference between ‘could it happen’ and ‘did it happen’
