I've been asked a lot about #COVID19.

Here is the CDC's Q&A.

I would also add:
- Stay hydrated
- Get enough sleep
- Regular exercise
- Bulk up your grocery list; have supplies to last 14 days if needed, make sure you have a balanced diet
- Take a break from hand shakes/high 5s
- Wash your hands before you touch your face
- Regularly wash surfaces in your home
- Microwave your kitchen sponge/or toss regularly
- Limit exposure to large gathering places
- Launder your winter coat, scarves, gloves, etc regularly
- Keep an eye out for updates on #COVID19
- Don't forget to swing by a book shop and stock up on things to stay entertained if we do hit quarantine
- Make sure your 14 minimum supply list has important items like soap and toilet paper 😂

Also, I am *not* a medical doctor, follow a few of those.

If you haven't done your shopping for the week, make sure to grab an extra week's worth when you do.

Prudent planning and stocking up early helps stores reorder and keep their supplies moving.

Prepare, don't panic.

You likely will find it hard to locate items like hand sanitizer. However, an inexpensive and easy to locate gallon of bleach is a good supply to have.

Keep things you will use anyway; don't buy things you won't use or eat.

Do buy a couple extra of your favorite things.
If you have not done so, please grab an extra week or two of groceries.

Planning ahead allows stores to restock as well as possible in the off chance we have an executive branch incapable of managing an emergency and they make chaotic announcements that create panic buys.
If you are in the Portland area, I was at Whole Foods today and they were mostly stocked. Only one item I was unable to purchase from my normal shop.
If you have not yet bought some spare groceries, please do so.

#COVID19 is expected to spread in the US. Be prepared to self-isolate for several weeks if you get ill.

I ran to BJs in Portland for printer toner yesterday, and they were well-stocked except hand sanitizer.
This is a sign that we will have closures that impact most of the country.

Buy supplies you will need to remain at home for several weeks.

Don't forget to order a few Maine-made treats with #MaineRaising and support small businesses with internet orders.
If today is your shopping day, please stock up.

#covid19 will come to Maine.

Supplies are relatively plentiful at the moment. Planning ahead allows stores to restock for when panic buying sets in and for you to already have your supplies.

Prepare, don't panic.
We have an opportunity in Maine to #flattenthecurve with prudent planning and some social distancing.

Plan ahead, pick up some extra groceries, be able to stay in as needed when #COVID19 hits Maine.

Preparing is the best way to protect your neighbors.
Some super easy steps you can start to take toward social distancing - shop less often, throw a little more in your cart.

Shop at off-peak times.

Order delivery groceries and sundries from local markets if your community has that service. (Keep local businesses going too!)
There is not accurate info coming from our executive branch, and the CDC is not releasing timely info.

Prepare, don't panic

Do...
- wash your hands frequently
- practice social distancing to #FlattenTheCurve
- buy extra groceries
- look to trusted medical professionals for info
Let's take some positive steps to help our community.

Please do not give me a penny; we can run politics on word of mouth.

Instead, use this #MaineRaisingMonday to do one or two things.

Thing 1, let's get food banks stocked.

Thing 2, please support local businesses.

The economy will take a hit. Let's help make sure those who have small companies and are self-employed struggle a bit less.

If you need a place to start, there are 210, 815 items from Maine on sale at Etsy.

Ask anyone running for office to start the job early and prioritize helping their neighbors through the next few months.

Push resources to our communities.

We don't need ads. We need people we trust doing the right thing.

The way back from all of this is supporting each other.
Italy has now essentially closed to address #COVID19.

This is a very good time to check your pantry and prepare for if such measures are necessary in the US.

- ask about working from home
- make childcare arrangements
- check groceries
- wash your hands

Please put a bit of physical space between yourself and others.

Prudent planning > panic.

It's a great time to stock up a bit on groceries and books, and avoid unnecessary large gatherings.

Let's protect neighbors and #FlattenTheCurve.

There is now a lock-down in the US.

Please do basic preparations so you aren't caught off-guard.

Have enough groceries on hand for 14 days,
Practice social distancing,
Have a plan for work and childcare closures,
Wash your hands, and
WASH YOUR HANDS

Please start your preparations and begin social distancing *now*.

Indications are there are many asymptomatic carriers and #COVID19 may spread well before symptoms are obvious for those who aren't asymptomatic.

Be mindful of your vulnerable neighbors.
Today is a really good day to take care of tipped service workers if you are in an area not currently impacted by #COVID19.

It is pretty likely we will have substantial disruptions in coming weeks and they likely have no support.

Also, wash your hands.

Shopping lower volume, locally-owned stores limits your exposure risk.

If you are in a more impacted area, order online from small businesses to help them float the dip. (And absolutely pick something up from a Maine business while you are at it!)

With a spouse abroad, I am preparing for the possibility of self-isolation for 2-4 weeks upon his return.

You should also be prepared, because it's a bother if you need to isolate and are not.

Have enough food, medications, and activities to sustain you if you need to isolate.
We have a case of #COVID19 in Maine.

Please start taking immediate social distancing steps.

If you have not stocked up, purchase a reasonable amount of extra groceries.

Be prepared for school, work, and event closures.
#mepolitics #mesen

When Disney closes, it's *really* real.

Please follow appropriate protocol:

- Buy a reasonable amount of extra groceries, use delivery or curb pick-up, if available
- Practice social distancing
- Leave your home only as necessary
- WASH YOUR HANDS
