Bankers suing Oracle - theregister.co.uk/2020/02/21/ora… ... " It's claimed that Oracle misled its investors about the sales of its cloud products by threatening customers with expensive software licensing audits unless they agreed to use Oracle's cloud software"
Having worked extensively in cloud (2006-2011) and kept an eye on the field since, I find this claim vexatious because poor old Oracle has been the butt of cloud jokes for almost a decade. I would question how much of this is related to shoddy investment research.
i.e. If Oracle claimed that it could not have misled as everyone in cloud has known "Oracle was nowhere in cloud for the last decade" and its efforts were just marketing ... I personally think you'd struggle to find anyone of any repute in the cloud industry to disagree.
As for "90 to 95 per cent of the company's cloud sales between March 15, 2017 to June 19, 2018 were engineered deals" ... I personally find that surprising because it implies 5% to 10% weren't. Really? I assume we're talking very low numbers here.
