So over on @cspan @SenSasse is railing against the provision from the Democrats that would require the collection of racial and ethnic data of the workforce of corporations receiving bailout funds under the proposed bill. "None of this has to do with the coronavirus."
Now he's railing against the voter protection provisions for the 2020 General Election designed to address the effects of the pandemic on voting: "This has absolutely nothing to do with coronavirus."
Either Sen. Sasse lacks civic imagination, or he's just way in over his head as a United States Senator. Or both.

Faith institutions are property & land owners. Black churches - reliant on Sunday donations - will be devastated by COVID-19 closures w/o assistance in the stimulus bill. At the end of this pandemic, we may see a massive loss of Black property w/o direct support in the stimulus.
This property loss will accelerate the pace of Black land loss & will leave many of our communities more vulnerable to gentrification. Faith institutions needs a mortgage freeze during the course of the pandemic closures. COVID-19

Today's SCOTUS decision in the #Comcast case is getting credit because it's not as bad as it could have been (see Justice Ginsburg's concurrence), but it is still harmful for civil rights plaintiffs, placing on them an add'l burden at the very outset of their claim.
The CR Act of 1866 was enacted to put African Americans on equal footing w/white ppl in access to economic opportunity. By placing an addl burden on plaintiffs who claim discrimination at the very outset of their case, today's decision weakens the effectiveness of the statute.
Mr. Allen's case survives because the Court refrained from offering an opinion on whether his complaint meets the standard it announced today, and instead remanded the case back to the 9th Circuit to once again review the lower court’s rejection of Mr. Allen’s complaint.

#bailout Here's how America could kill two crises with one piece of legislation. Give all the companies asking for bailouts all the money they're asking for. Every penny. Instead of issuing more debt however, buy equity. Purchase ownership in them.
Take that aggregate equity and create a sovereign corporation that issues shares directly to every American citizen and sets up trusts for our children. Require the payment of quarterly dividends to be distributed directly via direct deposit to shareholders.
This way we wouldn't be working for "the man". We'd be the man. Encourage every business enterprise out there to come eat at the trough. Suck on the govt teat and bring the corporate socialism out into the open where we can see it and benefit from it.

Weird, really.

Congress imposed limitations on use of Title X funds. The regs were held constitutional by #SCOTUS 30 years ago.
Yet, according to nearly every #Dem spreading their lies and legs for the #presidentialnomination, the rule is "unethical" and women will lose access to contraception and basic health services.
@PPFA could continue using #TitleX funds.

They really could.

All that is required is that @PPFA segregate out its abortion and abortion referral programs and services from its #TitleX programs and services.

UCC had opportunity to comment on the #Data.Protection & Privacy Bill. The enactment of this law is long overdue. A comprehensive law on the collection & processing personal information gives effect to the right to Privacy envisaged under Article 27(2) of the Constitution
UCC welcome the protections offered by the Bill in terms of export of data, breach notification requirements, data subjects access rights, automated decision making, compensation and the right to be forgotten and provision for financial and penal sanctions for breach of the law.
Distinction between Data collectors & data controllers.
The Bill should however clarify & distinguish Data Collectors, from Data Processors & Data Controllers. Clause 2 is inconsistent with international good practice which provides for two broad categories of Data Controllers
