You may be thinking of South Korea as one of the "epicentres" of the coronavirus pandemic. But that's mainly because they got it early, so monopolised news coverage. In fact, they have seen just 120 deaths, compared to 336 in the UK so far...

Even if you adjust the figures for the difference in population, the UK has experienced 2.11x as many deaths as South Korea. So next time you're tempted to think of them as part of the problem, maybe refocus your gaze closer to home?
BTW, the contrast for Japan is even more stark. Japan is another country that got talked about a lot in the press at the beginning of the pandemic. But they've suffered just 42 deaths. Adjusted for population size, the UK has experienced 14.9x more deaths than Japan.
All this to say: the world moves very very fast when it comes to a pandemic growing exponentially. A lot of the trouble "hotspots" at the beginning aren't anywhere near so significant now. So you may need to reset your thinking to match...
