What is needed ahead of any pandemic in the future is a decentralized community care strategy.
Mobile medical clinics designed to be managed by no more than 2-3 people on shift per 8 hours; 6-9 people per 24 hours; no more than 4 days on or if preferred 1 week on/1 week off so min: 12-18 trained people.
Viral load minimization is key.
We need to send as few neighbors into centralized ambulances & hospitals to prevent cross-contamination and community spread.
Each neighborhood could have a walk-in, self-check pop-up clinic for health crises. Clinics could be designed for expandable isolation pods equipped with telemedicine capabilities & easy distribution of food/medicine w/o interaction.
Each pod could be easily detached & transported in case of individual’s conditions worsening to need emergency or ICU-level care again to stations set up specifically for pandemic so we keep patients already in care away from new viral spread
In cases like #COVID19, each pod could be equipped w/an oxygen tank, convertible bed/chair, screens for telemedicine, wifi/cell, food stash separate from meal delivery, sterilization agents, masks, gowns, gloves, other necessities by design.
System:
Neighborhoods would have lists of trained personnel all the way to janitorial.
Training & certification programs would be set up b/t emergencies to qualify neighbors from high school seniors to senior citizens, medical & non-medical
Every community center, park & school could be equipped with 3D printers & raw materials to regenerate specific supplies, like new gloves, masks, gowns, even oxygen tanks & ventilators.
Necessity is the mother of invention.
20% of COVID19 cases = med/emergency professionals whom we send right back into the fray w/i 3 days post-fever or with masks if asymptomatic but positive.
Imagine decreasing viral load exposure to this necessary population: adequate PPE & care layers
