May this year’s Hajj not be affected by Covid-19. If does affect however, many think this is the first time, but that’s not correct. There have been several instances when hajj couldn’t hold for different reasons:

Hajj didn’t hold for ten years between 317 - 327AH (929 - 938AD).
This happened because of a brutal insurgency led by Abu Dahirul Janabi al-Qurmudi. They killed upto 30,000 pilgrims in 316AH, buried many of them in the Well of Zamzam and took away al-Hajar al-Aswad. This scared pilgrims from Hajj for 10 years. (Abu al-Dhahabi’s Tarikhul Islam).
Similarly, in 357AH(967AH), a pandemic called al-Mashiri killed around 3/4 of pilgrims on their way to the Holy Land. Many of those who managed to arrive alive died in Makkah. Becuade that, that year’s Hajj didn’t go on. See Ibn Taymiyyah’s al-Bidaya al-Annihaya.
Furthermore, Hajj didn’t hold in 492AH (1099AD) because of conflicts among Muslim kingdoms with each claiming to be in charge of the Holy Land. People didn’t go to Hajj because of fear that violence may break out while they’re there. There are several other instances too.
