The next big issue facing NICE & #healthcare will be our relationship with the European Medicines Agency after Brexit; it will impact our #medicines research, trials. We could see a dramatic reduction in research, access to medicine and disrupt the supply of meds - @steve_mccabe

The British #taxpayer makes a phenomenal contribution to the development of new #drugs - but these can then be prohibitively priced. We need to improve access to new medicines and there is a question around cost, access and funding. @steve_mccabe

New medical devices can give the patient greater knowledge about their condition and make managing a condition more convenient e.g. blood test kits. @steve_mccabe

Machine-learning will not replace #doctors but doctors who understand #AI may well replace those that don't. @steve_mccabe

Remote communication does not work for all #patients , some will still need to be seen face-to-face. However we can ask, does the #primarycarer always need to be the #GP?

The #NHS is pursuing a #digital agenda however there are concerns. e.g. digtial platforms matching a #patient with an out of area #doctor raise questions about continuity of care and a GP's knowledge of their patient's local #healthcare options. Andrew @mha_uk.

Unless we can have a standard arrangement with our EU neighbours we are going to have to think about a different model of stockpiling and releasing #medicines. Rationing may be an inevitable consequence. @steve_mccabe #Brexit

#forestbathing is a form of #mindfulness combined with the benefits of #biodiversity. In Japan they have shown that a walk in the #forest can reduce #bloodpressure. @TFB_Institute is working with @ForestryEngland to integrate the outdoors with our #healthsystem

Advertising and positive work with influencers will encourage people to make #healthy lifestyle choices and take responsibility for their #health into their own hands, and help unburden the NHS.
