We are LIVE tweeting the panel discussion with @TimSCahill1, Admiral R Hari Kumar, @CDF_Aust, General Koji Yamazaki, @INDOPACOM, Air Marshal Luc De Rancourt, and @Lisa_Singh.
.@TimSCahill1: There is a wide range of threats that we are facing today, such as the continuing struggle of #terrorism, emerging asymmetric capabilities, & #military & #economic competition. The domains in which our adversaries operate now are very broad.
.@TimSCahill1: While we have been occupied with #COVID19, our adversaries have grown stronger & expanded their capabilities. There is a need to develop an ability to counter our adversaries’ #hypersonics.
.@TimSCahill1: To deal with the threat scenario, we need to develop #networked systems. That system needs to be resilient. The nodes in this integrated networked system have to operate as a whole & not independently. This is essential to counter the threat scenario. #Raisina2022
.@TimSCahill1: Finding the convergence of national needs for #nationalsecurity, national economics, and #business for the industry is critically important. We need to draw #supplychains from around the world.
.@Lisa_Singh: The 21st century has brought with it new threats to the global order. How can the countries assembled here today bring stability, in this age of #digital threat, to ensure a stable and rules-based order in the #IndoPacific?
.@Lisa_Singh: The breakdown of the #global order has a direct impact on the flow of #technology, so what has this unstable global order in store for us? Will we see more cooperation or a zero-sum game dominate?
Adm. R Hari Kumar: We are in a contested world because of the conflict & the challenge posed by #technologies that are emerging. This offers great opportunities for #cooperation & collaboration between like-minded countries.
Adm. R Hari Kumar: How a nation uses #technology depends on its mission and values. #Democratic nations have always exercised restraint in the way #tech is used.
Air Marshal Luc De Rancourt: Does #technology change the way we wage war? Since we have a wide variety of tools and stakeholders, the conflicts now involve a lot of different domains. What do we really want?
Air Marshal Luc De Rancourt: Do we really want a world where the #internationalregime is under zero-sum game which leads to #security dilemma or do we want to maintain equilibrium by strengthening #cooperation with like-minded countries?
Gen. Koji Yamazaki: #Russia’s invasion of #Ukraine is a violation of the international #rules-based order; it is an attack on sovereignty & integrity. We must learn from this war. We just acquire capabilities to prevent such events in the future.
Gen. Koji Yamazaki: How we use this new #technology in #cyberwarfare, especially in cross-domain operations, will be key. It is important to differentiate between disinformation and correct information.
Adm John C. Aquilino (@INDOPACOM): This is a concerning time when seen from the lens of global security as is visible from the #Russian aggression & the attitude of #China. We are cooperating with like-minded countries & becoming interoperable to ensure a free & open #IndoPacific
.@CDF_Aust: #Tech is being used widely in grey-zone tactics. The most appropriate approach to deal with these threats is by joining hands with like-minded nations. We have to be innovative & demonstrate strength to expose undesirable behaviour of belligerent nations. #Raisina2022
Adm. R Hari Kumar: To enhance #maritime security, India has kept up its goal of being the first responder which helps in developing trust, #interoperability, exchange of #information and good practices, and domain awareness.
Adm. R Hari Kumar: It is impossible for any one country to ensure #maritime security. Therefore, there is a need for cooperation, collaboration, and interoperability so that peace and order can be collectively maintained in the #IndoPacific region.
Adm John C. Aquilino (@INDOPACOM): All forms of #tech apply to military warfare & we need to prepare with a sense of urgency. Now, cooperation is happening more in the #multilateral sphere rather than the bilateral one.
Air Marshal Luc De Rancourt: The #French#IndoPacific strategy is completely aligned with the #EU Indo-Pacific strategy. We need to lay out concrete objectives such as enhancing security in #Asia.
Adm John C. Aquilino (@INDOPACOM): Like-minded nations in the #IndoPacific have been working together for 80 years. Our values and interest to keep #peace and prosperity in the region is a very good thing.
.@GeoffreyOnyeama: The #IndiaAfrica Forum Summit (#IAFS) process is aimed at developing a precise roadmap that responds to the priorities of #African countries. #India can share its technological know-how which will boost our substantial partnership.
.@LynnKuok: The #US has put working towards a common cause with its closest allies at the centre of advancing its national interest. The strength of the US as well as its partners matter.
.@carlbildt: If you look at the handling of the #Russia crisis, we are flying together. We are closer than in the past, covering all aspects of #security. There is a significant strengthening of #NATO and #transatlantic aspects of security.
.@RVlahutin: We have gone through multiple crises in the last few years—but they have served as great catalysers. We have seen how the #EU is shaping its response to these crises, and the EU is now at a moment of reckoning. #Raisina2022
.@RVlahutin: Infrastructure is a strategic tool & we have to treat it like that. Connectivity is not just primarily about things like railways, but it is also about the system of values underpinned by transparency, stability & the ability to make sovereign choices
With #Raisina2022 in full swing, @orfonline is delighted to announce the #RaisinaEdit— a selection of commentaries that unpack, interpret, & problematise contemporary global developments.
A key reason for the growth of the passion #economy is that it offers alternative ways of making money, innovative paths toward professional fulfilment & unprecedented career opportunities, writes @utkarsh_amitabhor-f.org/103498
Kwati Candith Mashego-Dlamini: In #SouthAfrica, we have space for #women & struggle side by side with men. #Women need to be seen as individuals. Empowerment of women is not a side agenda, but we need to focus on how we can help them have their own space & strength. #Raisina2022
.@ctgchatter: We require political will, affirmative action, and policy changes to empower #women. I believe, empowered women, empower women.
