I just talked to several insurer CEOs about what they're planning to do if the ACA Executive Order happens.
CEO 1 said they made "a lot" of money on ACA this year. Would have been 0% in rates, but increased them for CSRs. 2/
CEO 1 said he would need to see the pace at which Assoc plans would be introduced. Questions legality but no idea yet of recourse.
CEO said board would meet and decide what to do considering they are only insurer in many counties. 4/
CEO 2 is in a very stable state and market. Low increases, lots of competition, positive but not crazy margins.
CEO 2 is worried that the whole state gets turned upside down w Exec Order & plans who would appeal to healthy but offer limited benefits.6/
CEO 2 is part of an association of other plans & he doesn't know what their position would be. I contacted the association. . .7/
The association said they were worried many plans would be forced to leave the ACA leaving many consumers wout options. 8/
CEO 3 is profitable and just increased rates by 45% to account for CSRs and potential effect of Trump's Exec Order. 9/
Finally, I talked to 1 gov office, 1 state health Sec, 1 MCD director & 1 AG. They are all reviewing options, won't take this lying down.10/
Trump is actually doing the opposite....
