Blog post on the website of the German software giant SAP from 2014 on how to harvest a "massive data set" using a Facebook app & put it into "one master data storage". The FB app could provide "promotions, survey, some reward points, promotion codes etc": blogs.sap.com/2014/08/20/soc…
…not only from FB, but also from other social networks. The tutorial says "getting the permissions from the end users can be easily achieved th rough the app permission". At least they mention:

"There could be legal issue on persisting the user details". Ehm.
From a 2012 presentation by employees of the IT/data giant Informatica:

"Facebook app passes data to custom application", which "passes in user identity data (ID, various profile attributes) and relationship data (friends)". Not sure what a custom app is? marketplace.informatica.com/mpresources/Co…
Another example, a brochure by the large IT/consulting firm Cognizant from 2013 that explains how companies can gather FB data (e.g. about friends, relationships, likes, interests), for example via FB apps, and store it in their master consumer databases: cognizant.com/InsightsWhitep…
"Steps to get started":

- "Use social login and apps to gain permission and access to social data"
- "Once permission has been granted, brands must extract data via the social network's API"

...from the Teradata brochure "Social data at work" (2013): slideshare.net/mlummus1/socia…
'The company also benefits from the richness of the Facebook social graph and the ability to pull information about its customers’ friends ... All that info gets sucked up ... and dumped into the company's Teradata warehouse', @kashhill reported in 2012: forbes.com/sites/kashmirh…
In 2011, the 'Gateway for Facebook' product sold by the US business intelligence firm MicroStrategy provided functionalities to gather 'socal graph' data, cross-reference it with consumer data from other sources, integrate it with 'enterprise data' & use it for various purposes.
In its PDF brochure MicroStrategy states that the 'Facebook social graph provides a source of CRM data unlike any database before it', and 'data is refreshed on a scheduled, ongoing basis so you always have the most up-to-date consumer information': cdn2.hubspot.net/hub/49708/file…
