#Narasin_Mehta, also known as Narasin Bhagat, was a 15th century poet-saint of Gujarat, India. Honoured as the first poet or Adi Kavi of Gujarati language, Narasingha became a devotee of Krishna and devoted his life to composing poetic works described as bhakti or Image
devotion to Krishna. His bhajans have been popular in Gujarat and Rajasthan for over 5 centuries. Narasingh was mute till the age of eight. He started speaking only after meeting a holy man who made him chant the phrase "Rade Shyam". Narasin and his wife Manekbai lived in the
house of his elder brother Panshidar, but Panshidar's wife treated them badly. She was a bad woman who mocked and humiliated Narasingh many times. One day, when her taunts and insults were too much for Narasingha, he left the house and went to a nearby forest to seek some peace,

What are the stages of Bhakti?

A thread. 🧵

#bhakti #spirituality Image
Of the many paths to finding one's truth, the path of Bhakti is the most beautiful.

If one is to realise their truth through Bhakti, it requires
complete surrender.
As they say, Rome was not built in a day. The same goes for the path of Bhakti.

A bond between a Bhakt and His Bhagavān requires time to strengthen, mature and blossom.

Every day early morning a little girl would come to the temple, stand before the deity, close her eyes and with folded hands, murmur something for a couple of minutes. Then open her eyes, bow down, smile and go out running. This was a daily affair. Image
The temple Poojari was observing her and was curious about what she was doing. He thought, she is too small to know the deeper meanings of religion. She would hardly know any prayers. But then what was she doing every morning in the temple?
15 days passed and Poojari now couldn’t
resist but to find out more about her behaviour. One morning, Poojari reached there before the girl and was waiting for her to complete her ritual. “My child, I have seen since the last 15 days that you come here regularly. What do you do?"

“ I pray,” She said spontaneously.

🧵#Jagadguru #Shankaracharya #SriSri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Mahaswamiji: People have a natural capacity to love. Affection requires an object & when that object is God, it gets labelled #bhakti or devotion. Nārada defines bhakti as the extreme love of God. He who attains such

devotion no longer longs for anything and is ever fully satiated and happy. While attachment to wife, wealth, etc., causes bondage, attachment to God liberates. A sense object sometimes gives joy and sometimes sorrow. It is not always available and has several faults. On the

🧵The self-realization path: In the famous Ankola Sloka of Shivanandalahari, the various stages of Bhakti are vividly portrayed. A chaste wife, whatever be the nature of her husband, devotes herself to the service of him. There is a clear distinction between the Bhagawan and

the Bhakta. It is the type of Bhakti characterized as 'dāsyam'. A creeper, which, growing near the tree, slowly catches hold of the trunk for support and ultimately when fully grown completely covers the tree. Here the relationship between the Bhagawan and the devotee is

intimate and close as between friends. This superior Bhakti is called 'Sakhyam'. Final example - A river finding its way into the sea and becoming completely one with the sea after confluence. In a similar way, the devotee after having given up everything which is the

"A Jnani's presence is the most powerful force, can do wonders: save souls, give peace of mind, even give liberation to ripe souls"

🧵A #MustRead which instantly energizes devotees..

‘One day when I was sitting by the side of #Bhagavan I felt so miserable that I put the
following question to him: "Is the sankalpa of the jnani not capable of warding off the destinies of the devotees?"
'Bhagavan smiled and said: "Does the jnani have a sankalpa at all? The jivanmukta [liberated being] can have no sankalpas whatsoever. It is just impossible.

'I continued: "Then what is the fate of all us who pray to you to have grace on us and save us? Will we not be benefited or saved by sitting in front of you, or by coming to you?..."

'Bhagavan turned graciously to me and said: "...a person's bad karma will be considerably

#MahaPeriyava Once some learned people were conversing with Sri Maha Periyava. Even though the topic was on a high level Vedantic matter, Periyava’s talk and the language was so simple that even an illiterate could understand it easily. It was different from the lectures normally
delivered by Pundits. At that time, a young man from Australia came there to have His darshan. The young man was doing research on the comparison of various religions and he could speak small sentences in Sanskrit. After the normal enquiries, Periyava asked him what he wanted.
“How should I be? How should I live? What is way of life? What is the way to perform good deeds in life and to get good results?” The young man piled his queries, politely. After a few minutes silence, Periyava said, “All that is okay. But why come here (Kalavai was the place)

A thread on some quotes from @gautambhatia88’s “The transformative constitution “In equality jurisprudence, the approach of focusing on the disproportionately exclusionary impact if politics rather than their formal character or motive is known as disparate impact”

An test for entry may be “neutral” but yet exclude by aligning with exclusionary institutions; if an physical entrance test for firefighter includes activities not necessary for fulfilling duties and unintentionally poses #gender-barriers, deserves to be struck down. #NoteToSelf
