How Maha Vishnu taught a lesson to Rishi Durvasa. A devotee is always protected by Bhagwan. That is the Power of Bhakthi. 🕉

Rishi Durvasa is well known for his short temper, so wherever he went, he was received with great reverence.

Story Of Ambarisha, a great king and a great devotee. He observed fasting on every Ekadasi and on the next day (Dwadashi) as per the practice he would end fasting. Thus on One Dwadashi day when Ambarisha was about to end his fasting Rishi Durvasa came with his disciples.
The King immediately fell at his feet and said he was honoured to have him as guest on such a day as Dwadasi. The sage said that he would go to the
river, have bath and come back.
But Durvasa took long time to finish his bath. King waited to end his fast, as on

#Thread on #divyadesams. Divya Desams are Sri Vishnu temples which the 12 Vaishnava saints or the Azhwars have sung in their hymns in praise of Sri Vishnu. There are 108 Divya Desams, 106 can be visited in mortal life. The other two are in the celestial abode of Sri Vishnu. Image
#azhwar means ‘immersed’. Azhwars are considered to be devotees of Vishnu who have fully immersed themselves in #bhakti. They lived between 5th-8th centuries CE, composing hymns in praise of Sri Vishnu. Their songs are compiled as #DivyaPrabandham containing 4000 verses.
106 #DivyaDesam temples one can visit in this life are located in TN (85), Kerala (11) Uttar Pradesh (4) Uttarakhand (3) Andhra (2) Gujarat (1) and Muktinath in Nepal. It is the dream of every Sri Vaishnava to visit Divya Desams in his/her lifetime. SS via shaktipeethas.org Image

Love vs Ego

I have recently started reading Bhagvad Gita As It Is by Srila Prabhupada and I felt really moved reading this particular paragraph.

Especially keep in mind the lines "He (Krsna) takes greater pleasure in His pure devotees Image
assuming the advantageous position of ordering Him than He does in being the giver of orders. Since He is master, everyone is under His orders, and no one is above Him to order Him. But when He finds that a pure devotee is ordering Him, He obtains transcendental pleasure,
although He is the infallible master in all circumstances." End quote.

This is so significant. Shri Krsna could have destroyed Kauravas and other kings with a single use of His Sudarshan Chakra. Even if He fought the war He could have been the one fighting and Arjun would

A thread on some quotes from @gautambhatia88’s “The transformative constitution “In equality jurisprudence, the approach of focusing on the disproportionately exclusionary impact if politics rather than their formal character or motive is known as disparate impact”
“It is based on the premise that inequality and discrimination result not (only) from individual hostile acts, but from structures and institutions.” @gautambhatia88 Only in brackets important & added by me.
An test for entry may be “neutral” but yet exclude by aligning with exclusionary institutions; if an physical entrance test for firefighter includes activities not necessary for fulfilling duties and unintentionally poses #gender-barriers, deserves to be struck down. #NoteToSelf

After the sowing of crops in July, as part of a bi-annual 800 yr old #tradition, lakhs of #pilgrims/ warkaris from all over rural Maharashtra walk a distance of around 240 kms from Dehu & Alandi to meet their beloved Lord Vithoba. ruralindiaonline.org/articles/walki… ImageImage
Over the centuries many poets from Maharashtra belonging to the progressive #Bhakti tradition of devotional poetry have walked the Wari. Such was their influence that even centuries later the pilgrims go to Pandharpur to honour the reformist poet-saints. ruralindiaonline.org/articles/the-e… ImageImage
