#womenshealth is #disparate because medicine evolved in a patriarchal society. Male presentations of disease are “typical”, female ones are “atypical”. Society becoming more #gender #equal, doesn’t undo the historical bias of medicine we still rely our practice on - as a result,… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
While #postpartum care is an obvious example. @American_Heart published that women don’t classically present with chest pain like men in heart attacks, but instead may have fatigue or insomnia. This can be easily written off by doctors as “stress” ahajournals.org/doi/full/10.11…
“Stress” is a generous explanation I hear of writing off symptoms. More commonly, I hear “dramatic” or “being extra” as explanations. Those aren’t ICD codes, but implicit biases disproportionately assigned to female patients.

@NPR is doing its annual reading and tweeting of the #DeclarationOfIndependence. 246 years ago a group of men felt it so important that they risked everything to defy a King & start a path for a democratic republic. Today we’re seeing those values attacked by the stolen #SCOTUS
The #AntiDemocraticParty of the GOP passing laws & ideas to circumnavigate the will of #Americans. On this #IndependenceDay2022, it is time to not celebrate what happened 246 years ago, but to honor it by standing up for our #FellowAmericans ensuring that #Rights and #Freedoms
Are actually for all of us. #Autonomy is a #Right. Not being shot because you look dangerous or are frightened or just went to school #Right. Loving yourself & having your ability to have your own family is a #Right. #Healthcare is a #HumanRight (#AbortionIsHealthcare)

What I find as interesting about this chart as its contents is the label at the top: "#LIBERAL WOMEN"

Labour may in part* be more 'liberal' than the current Conservative party, but it is not a Liberal party...

__
*It still has its more authoritarian, "law'n'order!" tendencies. Image
...indeed, the chart itself 👇 suggests that "the women of Wakefield" support the Liberal Democrats LESS than the men.

This rather American(?) conflation of "left" and "liberal" in both language and assumption is a form of #CategoryError - in large part due to the insistence... Image
...on the all-too #binary 'left/right' framing that fails to encompass many nuances within politics.

That UK-level choices prefer only two 'parties of Government' does not entirely reflect either sentiment or ground reality, as the local government layer in England indicates... Image

#Taliban's Chief Justice in his 300-page book also discussed #Elections. According to him, there is no confirmation for modern democratic elections in Islam& the Islamic nation did not recognize it. "If there was good in it, why would the companions of Prophet (PBUH) ignored it?"
Calling it something imported from the non-believers, Sheikh Abdul Hakeem Haqqani, named five negative aspects of the democratic #elections, as follow:
1. Democratic elections create #disunity and encourage blameworthy tribal, party and linguistic fanaticism among the people.
...
2. #Equal value for the #vote of a wise scholar and an ignorant thug, a man and a woman, a believer and a non-believer...which is against the 'Instructions of Islam'.
3. Spending personal money and public treasury's money in a wasteful manner without a Sharia-based justification.

It's weekend and it's the end of the month. The #markets are closed.

So there is the perfect time to analyze the #momentum & relative #strength of the markets.

This information is relevant for all #investors, but especially for #trend #followers 📈📈📈

#marketresearch

🧵
The #momentum of the markets are one of the most powerful forces in the evolution of the #asset #prices.

The #reversion to the mean is the opposite force, which is equally powerful. Momentum works on a short and medium term (up to 3 to 5 years).
There is a ton of academic research related to the momentum and the benefits of using it and relative strength. But presenting it this is not the purpose of this #thread.

Relative strength is actually a comparison between the #momentum of two or more #markets.

#Options vs #Futures

Although both are #derivatives, Futures and Options are entirely different in terms of their potential #risk and #return , #leverage and how they work.

How different are futures and options?
#Rights vs #Obligations

In #Futures Trading, both the buyer & the seller are #obligated to settle the contracts on or before expiry ie cover shorts or longs or rollover to next contract, regardless of how the underlying asset price moves.
With #Options the buyer has the #Right, but not the #Obligation, to buy (call option) or sell (put option) on underlying asset. The option seller is #passive and must comply with whatever the option buyer does.

Thoughtful podcast on what was probably the most promising experiment for #communism to ever work.
Many important insights:
1.) If you want an egalitarian society, politics need to be decentralized & units restricted <= ~150 families.
Interesting @nntaleb?
econtalk.org/ran-abramitzky…
2.) Kibbutz were really very close to communist ideals. NO(!) private property, children were largely raised by the community to instill the right spirit, exactly #equal salary for everyone. At their peak, more than 5% of the Israeli population lived in one.
3.) From what Ran Abramitzky explains, they were in many regard great places. Good public good provision, little conflict and very safe for children, &being in the community is good insurance against bad events happening to you. Also most places were rather well off economically

A lot of exciting work over here at #MWEG today but first we want to speak to an urgent matter happening within the Georgia elections.

If you missed the news of the week, you need to read this story. apnews.com/fb011f39af3b40…
#MWEG leaders and members are very concerned about this news out of #Georgia, especially given the state’s history of disenfranchising African American voters.
Local, state, and federal officials should do all within their power to ensure not only that all citizens have #equal access to the #voting booth but also that #election systems, districting, and #registration are free from any hint of partisan influence.
