Here are some ways you can make your layout/apartment/gated community more water sustainable...🧵
Here’s the challenge:

In a layout, how can we convert water from an individual, private resource, to an #equitable resource?
Imagine everybody using multiple straws to procure water from the same glass.

Is there an alternative to everybody sinking a #borewell, competing with each other to draw #water? How can this alternative be #sustainable?

This headline 👇 will be no surprise to anyone who's been following @NHSEngland's plans (and actions) for a while.

But @JonUngoedThomas's article reveals some crucial details about what's intended for your #NHS #HealthRecords that are worth unpacking...

Finally, the #GoldacreReview is published! (During Parliamentary Easter holidays, mid-ping-pong on the #HealthAndCareBill...)

It's 221 pages - each PDF page is a double page spread - so this could be a lo-o-o-ong [Thread].

Here goes...
First point to note, in the Terms of Reference (p5), is that this is about "access to #NHSdata by #researchers, #commissioners, and #innovators" - i.e. #Planning and #CommercialReUse - so it is directly relevant to the operation of millions of people's #NationalDataOptOuts... There seemed to be some confusion about (the use of) words in @CommonsHealth Committee yesterday morning, so here's a [Thread] to try to clarify.

First "#commercial". It is of course the case that many parts of the #NHS use commercial providers, e.g. of software, whether that...
...is @Microsoft365 for word processing, spreadsheets & e-mail; or IT systems to handle patients' records in hospitals (e.g. @CernerUK) & General Practice (e.g. @TPP_SystmOne, @EMISHealth, @CegedimHS); or software to drive complicated equipment like #MRIscanners, etc.

This is...
..entirely normal use of #commercial software & software services, for which the #NHS body is the #DataController. Apart from when that software goes wrong, I don't believe many would have concerns about this.

Then there are #commercial providers of #NHS services, about which...

Germany (and other countries heavily relying on fossil energy imports today) need to switch to alternative energy carriers in the future to become climate neutral.

The list of options is long:
⚗️Which energy carrier?
🗺️From where?
🚢By which transport mode?
Highlights below.

You can find our preprint (not yet peer reviewed!) on arxiv.org/abs/2107.01092 . With @Michael_Dueren @nworbmot @jlugiessen @TUBerlin .
We modelled 9 energy supply chains (ESCs) from 8 different exporting countries for optimal investment.

Including

* considered local electricity demand before export
* conversion steps along each ESCs World map indicating countr...

Lately, I have been very disturbed with the whole #climatecrisis. Every day some new naturally unnatural calamity looms over our head.
The ice caps are turning in cold rocks and I end up in a rabbit hole feeling helpless.

It just sucks to imagine a #future where the only way people can enjoy nature as you and I did via #hiking etc is to read blogs and watch videos.
That sucks on so many levels.

And when I think about the reasons for this situation. I can't seem to go any further but to pin it on #consumption.
Not just fashion or lifestyle consumption. But any damn product.
From the smallest sewing pin to the giant #spaceships.
