@BasedChara @MerryMichaelW @blueunicornmoon @MagpiesView You do know that the referendum was not intended as a binding instruction, yes? That the referendum was enabled by an act that explicitly laid out its advisory nature?
@BasedChara @MerryMichaelW @blueunicornmoon @MagpiesView Yes, Cameron said he'd enact it but that's all he did, say. Theresa May said she would not hold an election in 2017, but she did. Should the current government dissolve itself because of what she said? (Don't answer that)
@BasedChara @MerryMichaelW @blueunicornmoon @MagpiesView Do you know what's damaged our vote?

The ref may have been advisory but it was a legitimate democratic exercise, governed by electoral law.

The leave campaign broke all kinds of electoral laws.

If a GE was won after a corrupt campaign, for how long would the new govt last?
@BasedChara @MerryMichaelW @blueunicornmoon @MagpiesView Because the ref was advisory, more than 1m UK citizens living overseas were not allowed to vote despite the govt being in favour of votes for life.

Do those who want to respect the ref because DC said he would also wish the govt had respected this promise?
@BasedChara @MerryMichaelW @blueunicornmoon @MagpiesView What about the £1bn bribe to the DUP when TM failed to win a GE on a platform and manifesto of respecting the result? Was that good for democracy?

What about the Henry VIII powers?

Or is it parliament voting to cede sovereignty on this issue that is most democratic?
@BasedChara @MerryMichaelW @blueunicornmoon @MagpiesView I think what really clinches it is that for some time now, people have been changing their minds. It's not huge, but it's bigger than the tiny majority from the ref. & I'd be inclined to think that democracy is not supporting a vote whose original voters have changed their minds.
@BasedChara @MerryMichaelW @blueunicornmoon @MagpiesView I think that when the job losses at Airbus, Jaguar Land Rover, Monarch, Maplins, House of Fraser, Poundworld, Carillion Toys R Us & all the others settle in, many more people may change their minds and won't want to be bound by their vote on a rainy day in 2016.
@BasedChara @MerryMichaelW @blueunicornmoon @MagpiesView But even if they don't and even if JRM, the ERG and Jeremy Corbyn dance about, filibuster and deflect until the UK is pulled over the cliff edge, that won't be the end of the story. Demographics are already writing the last chapter. Spoilers: We go back.
@BasedChara @MerryMichaelW @blueunicornmoon @MagpiesView But that would be a huge waste of time, money, lives and futures.

So tomorrow, I join the #PeoplesVoteMarch to #StopBrexitSaveBritain with my friends.
