BREAKING: Judge orders government produce discovery to state AGs opposing citizenship question in the Census, finding the states made a “strong showing of a claim of bad faith” on the part of @SecretaryRoss.
Ross told the House Ways and Means Committee that the Justice Department requested the citizenship question to enforce the Voting Rights Act.

“It now appears those statements were potentially untrue,” Judge Furman said from the bench.
The government must turn over privilege log and initial disclosures by July 23.

The states can pursue 10 fact depositions from the Department of Justice and the Department of Commerce.

Furman reserved decision on the motion to dismiss, but he called it “unlikely” he will.
