1. Global Warming Data Fishing
A reasonable and convincing argument can be made that we are experiencing a slight degree of global warming. Whether it is transient, as has happened repeatedly over time, or more durable remains to be seen.
2. However, desperate attempts to highlight every ditsy data point as evidence of imminent doom is as unconvincing as it is pathetic. Latest installment:

"Remarkably, in northern Norway, Makkaur, set a new record high overnight low temperature of 25.2°C, or 77°F, on July 18."
3. They looked at Makkaur's (in northern Norway) daytime high temperature. No record set. Then they looked at daytime low temperature. Nope. Then they looked at nighttime high temperature. No record there either. Then they looked at nighttime low temperature. Aha! A record!
4. Now repeat the same exercise with every nook and cranny of the globe with the help of a supercomputer and you will be surprised how many record highs you can detect. I bet an equal or greater number of record lows will be totally ignored because you're not looking for them.
5. My point is this. If your goal is to persuade people like me with data, then don't make a hash of it. Present the data scientifically and objectively, not anecdotally. I know you have all the data at this point to share objectively.
6. Such snippets of anecdotal data reek so much of not science but desperate data fishing -- some might say clutching at straws!
