If Labour is supposedly consulting on the IHRA definition with the Jewish community, and there is a "Code Plus" being developed behind closed doors, and that will be voted on a week on Tuesday without anyone except insiders seeing that, how on earth is that a consultation?
I was sent the version of the NEC code which has been in the public domain for ages, but it appears there will be, at the 4 September NEC meeting, a radically different version which will be put against the IHRA code for vote. This is not a consultation.

In the final para here @NickCohen4 suggests that under a Corbyn Labour government the Human Rights Act would be threatened as it places checks on governments... not sure about that! Certainly no signs of it in anything any Labour politician has said
I do get the point and also worry about some of the anti-dissent tendencies around Corbyn's movement. But whether a Corbyn government would go as far as unravelling the HRA which he and his colleagues have clearly supported, I doubt.

For the first time in modern history, it appears our budget will be passed as a conference report instead of a regular bill. Why does this matter? Because a conference report gets to skip the committee process and isn't subject to any amendments. 2/8
That means that whenever we see the budget - and it's still being written behind closed doors - it's essentially final. And we're hearing the budget vote will be as soon as next week, so without having seen a single line of it, it's basically done. 3/8

2/ The article claims DOJ/FBI “hid” information from Congress. Nice try, but this presupposes congress is entitled to specific sensitive details of a criminal investigation. It is not. Oversight is vital, but DOJ will not throw open the door of its ongoing investigations.
3/ The author cites the Speaker of the House as an authority on who should get access to what. Okay, that’s one branch of government’s view. The DOJ thought otherwise. That's a wash. Next argument, please?
