Through a weird chain of links I again came across the story of how Charles Schulz added Franklin to "Peanuts" and again I am in awe of what a lovely man he was. snopes.com/fact-check/cha…
And now I need to share some of my favorite Peanuts strips again. I quote the final line of this one often. Sally had become friends with the school building, and when she fell ill, she asked Charlie Brown to check in, and...
Then there's Schulz's rather pointed take on hard-line fundamentalist Christian thinking. Though Linus often quoted scripture, Schulz was a secular humanist.
And, my all time favorite, when Linus calmly confronts the apocalyptic bible camp preacher who has been terrorizing his friends with end of the world predictions. Also one of my all time favorite quotes.
The end of the end of the world series of strips also had Schulz's rather blunt take on what he really thought of such preachers.
Oh, and Schulz had some thoughts for those who try to hurt the joy of others.
Last one for tonight, and a lesson that EVERYONE needs to remember.
Okay, one more: girls and boys in sports together?
