1/ Here is the CBC report where Wendy Mesley fabricates a story about a libertarian conspiracy funded by US billionaires, and implies with her repeated questions about it that I violate Canadian electoral laws and take money from them to fund the @peoplespca.
@peoplespca 2/ Some weeks ago, The National’s Rosie Barton tried to link my tweets to the anniversary of a demonstration in the US involving racism and violence. She then admitted she had not proof of a link, but that she was justified to imply it since I had refused an interview with her.
3/ Jjournalists’ job is to report facts objectively, inform the public and let them judge. Not make up stories and try to discredit people or ideas they don’t like. This is especially the case at a publicly funded broadcaster with a mandate to reflect a wide range of opinions.
4/ This astonishing lack of professionalism should be enough to have Barton and Mesley fired or sanctioned. Why do these intellectually dishonest activists still have prominent jobs at a public broadcaster? When will their colleagues who care about ethics start denouncing them?
5/ Mesley wrote a tweet yesterday saying her questions were well researched, but she also doesn’t know what she’s talking about when it comes to wait times being worse in countries with mixed public/private systems. Canada is worst.
