1/ A doctor at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston expressed concerns about the quality of ICU care in emails to colleagues.

A few weeks later, he was told that hospital officials could end his career.

2/ The story starts in September 2015, when Dr. Tomas Rios sent three emails to colleagues laying out his belief that some of his patients had received unnecessary medical treatments. propub.li/2CEntTf
3/ Three weeks later, Dr. Rios was called to a meeting. But it wasn’t to discuss his concerns—it was to warn him that officials planned to “develop the evidence” against him that could end his career.
