You can't understand #JamalKhashoggi assassination without knowing the following:
1. The industrialized world's relationship with raw materials-producing nations like #KSA #SaudiArabia produces corruption on both sides
muslimmediareview.blogspot.com/2015/02/review…
2. The Arabic-speaking countries, for the most part, even if they don't depend on mineral exports, are dependent on similar relationships, often mediated through the wealth on neighboring raw materials-producing nations or security arrangements made to protect industrialized
nations' interests in the mineral-exporting nations or in the Zionist settler-colonialist project (Egypt. Jordan).

3. When thousands of youth in these nations revolted against these systems in 2011 & subsequent yrs, the industrialized world supported the regimes through military
interventions (Yemen & Bahrain), continued support of regime institutions & aid to counterrevolutionaries (Egypt) & cynical, bloody destabilizing through promotion of ever-multiplying & shifting alliances of militias (Libya, Syria, Yemen)
4. USA & UK client states UAE & KSA & to a lesser extent Qatar played a particularly pernicious role in this.

5. Powers like Russia & China, while less influential in the region, did similar things: supported regimes, sold weapons wherever possible, ignored human rights abuses.
6. USA's destruction of #Iraq paved the way for a lot of this. How, you ask? It was likely the most blatant genocidal & criminal act of the 21st century CE, & those who prosecuted it escaped all consequences. So it further established the principle of #impunity for #humanrights
abuses against the peoples of the region. It also was a laboratory for every kind of disinformation, insurgency, ethnic cleansing, resource-pillaging, funds-diverting, mass-murdering & torture tactic that emerged later in nearby nations.
It's important to recognize these previous six points so you don't misinterpret the final two & attribute it to cultural, religious or racial reasons. I.E. don't bring out your worn-out copy of "The Arab Mind."
7. These regimes, whether they are monarchies or "revolutionary republics," have no program other than stealing as much as they can for as long as they can. They have so thoroughly adopted #impunity as a principle that they consider every option in dealing with any form of
internal dissent, and they are genuinely surprised when some agency or foreign government or international body objects to their crimes.

8. Because they are so corrupt & the qualifications for leadership are either inheritance or viciousness, they are also incompetent. Hence,
the botched #JamalKhashoggi assassination. When you ask yourself questions such as, "Isn't assassinating somebody who hardly opposed the regime reckless?" or "Why did they snatch him inside their own consulate where everybody would know they were implicated?" or "Why did they
need 15 people who could be easily tracked to do this?" or "Why couldn't they hide the evidence better?" or "Why didn't they have a story prepared?," reread this thread & remember the words #impunity & #incompetence.

I urge people in the industrialized world to demand that their
governments stop these relationships with these nations. There are a lot of reasons to do this, both for the sake of the millions suffering under their rule & people worldwide, but I might save that for another day. #JamalKhashoggi #thread
