The combination of complete lies and racist slander will immediately call to mind a Trump rally speech. Hate and falsehoods, cast into relief by the photos in the feed from the caravan itself of struggling people, many with children.
Anyhoo, you don't actually have to talk about what Trump wants you to talk about. If it involves the US government, his responsibilities of office, sure. But this caravan crap is pure midterm rally garbage.
If Trump started talking about needing the Space Force fight off an alien caravan from Mars, and did it earnestly, with mocked-up photos & faked videos of Beto & Hillary & Soros working with the aliens, what would the media do?
"Believe me, the there are some really bad Martians coming our way, might be landing their space ships right here in Montana. The Democrats want to let them right in after taking away your guns. But I don't!"
So what is the appropriate response to a vile fantasy spun by the president of the United States for political purposes when the goal is simply to plant the topic in people's minds? All research shows that refuting it helps spread it.

Btw, this isn't media bashing. I adore journalists, individually and collectively. But we've seen since 2015 that for-profit media have no process to deal with a charlatan like Trump who makes headlines & money for the beleaguered industry.
