Back in July I started to worry that the longstanding "peaceful transition of power" norm might not hold in the Age of Trump. Looks like we're seeing a test of that norm play out in Florida as the GOP resists counting all votes. medium.com/@sethcotlar/th…
We've been here before in the land of contested Florida vote counts. Both sides fought hard and sometimes dirty. The difference this time, however, is that the President is making no effort to remain neutral and respect procedure.
One lesson the GOP learned in 2000 is that they can bully the Dems & threaten to burn it all down if they don't get their way, & the Dems would back down. Such norm-busting bullying was introduced by Newt in the 90s, and has been the GOP's M.O. ever since. (See, Merrick Garland)
