This is the kind of story where people always assume that Trump's violent rhetoric has actually caused it: I don't think so.

Women bloggers like me were seeing this kind of behaviour as far back as the Bush administration.
I think Trump gives them targets -- but I also think we should reverse the historical equation.
I believe that Trump became popular, and electable, because the media became a place where violence and a sense of grievance (primarily, but not only, male) was acceptable, cultivated and publicized for the sake of corporate profit.
New and digital media was the breeding ground for violence but legacy media embraced it for the sake of click dollars. If we are looking for points of connection with conservatives, this should be one of them. @RyanGirdusky @WSJ
