In rural India, farmers' unions & co-ops are a norm. It's an activity u might think is left leaning,but collective bargaining is the only way to access markets, push fr good prices, regulate seeds & fertilizers, even organise life. It's as rooted as harvest festivals #dillichalo
It might be ignorant to dismiss organised farmers and labourers just because they are unionised and aware. #DilliChalo
While the red t-shirts and flags pop becoz the most organised farmers seem to belong to AIKS (organisers pls correct me if wrong), there are farmers and labourers from all groups - RSS's Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, ASHA from Hyd, Adivasi Mukti Sangathan from MP, etc #DilliChalo
And also many many lone rangers. Like Ramsingh Bharadwaj from Kondgaon, Bastar, Chatthisgarh, a Banjara who is demanding forest rights. Taken a bus, two trains and travelled for 36 hours to reach Delhi. #dillichalo
